He didn't say" owners manual" did he. Real men don't read manuals. Just kidding. Another thing is that the % of overdrive on a dodge is alot higher than other makes. This doubles the load on the trans in overdrive. These newer trans are programed for soft shifts for your comfort. To do this the clutches are slipped go out of one gear, then slipped in to the other gear.If the trans is shifting back and forth because of the load, its going to produce alot of heat and wear on the clutches.

So that must be the same Real men that (not mentioning that all the trucks were Strokin it) cross rivers with out checking the depth.......Or so the three that I have pulled out of my local hole have said....Its all good ......Manuals are ment for smart trucking not being blind to what you can and can not do with your truck. Why Guess when you can read about it....Hence why these forms are great...No hard feelings here...

I tow a 30' Travel trailer with my 15oo Quad. My trailer weights in at 7800lbs, and I have a weight distribution hitch. With the minor modifications that I have made, (SuperChips Programer, K&N airfilter and free flow exhaust), I can tow comfortabley at 60 without shifting out of overdrive. This is, however, on flat ground here in the sunny state of Florida. In the hill regions of S.C. and N.C. I keep it in Drive. Is this smart on my part....not according to the manual. But, no one has ever accused me of being smart!

Why do you suppose that Chrysler put an over drive button on the shifting lever, for looks ,or for a reason. That's what's on my 04 Quad Cab, 4x4 Hemi. with the towing package. Do you have something different? maybe your truck isn't made for towing anything big.

The only reason any thing has an OD button is for minimizing rpms to save gas...It was never ment to tow with...that goes on any car...truck etc etc

Trippen I like the post with the "local mud hole" in it.Because it was guys that thought they where real men that I have seen pulling the manual from the glovebox, but only because it was now full of mud.I am not saying that I have not made mistakes, that the first thing I did was look around to see if any one seen it.
