pacifica problems?
Ewwww....just out of curiosity, what does buyback procedings entail? What is the expected outcome and will you be out any money if it goes through? I've never had to go through anyhting like that before, but just curious...just in case :-)
Hi Dodgemech,
I am new here and I *hear* what you are saying
However I just paid 40k for a top of the line Chrysler Pacifica...2005 and let me tell you it has been in the shop MORE than I have driven it in the last month and a half. I am so dissapointed, and I have learned that that old motto is true..*you get what you pay for* Personally I think the car is a LEMON..(mine). It was between the Pacifica and the new Caddilac *BUT* I thought for once I could actually save some money! oh well..live and learn, but in the state of IL the lemon law is 4 times the same problem, and we hit that today...I JUST picked it up for the 4th time..and STILL not fixed...its one thing after another!
Also I cannot blame someone for being upset about noises, When one is making a hefty car payment the car should be *right* American or not.
Just my two cents!

Here is the thing guys, we do this to ourselves. I just went through this over on the truck forum, you cry to Chrysler to keep new car prices down-so we build high-end cars for mid 30's. Then we b!tch about how much better the imports stay together. I realize you just 30K on new car, but that ain't sh!& compared to what it would cost to buy well built import. I am just a regular working guy too-I agree 30K is alot of money, but not for a new car. Lets look at it another way, the engine costs 7K, the trans is 2500, the rest of the drivetrain is around 3K. Seats run about 1K each( X4), don't forget the airbags in them and the dash airbags, about 3K all together just in air bags. What else-oh yeah, all the electronics the customer wants, 6disc changers and dvd players, navigation systems, electronic climate control with heated butt warmers-guessing low 5K in conveince electronics. Don't forget all the trim, door panels and headliner etc.. 3K, the Pacifica has around 28 different computers at about 250 each/7K. So what is that like 39K and we haven't figured in production costs and the rest of the car like wheels and tires and brakes so on. Granted Chrysler gets a deal on this stuff buying in bulk but not that much. That is why our cars are not of the same quality as the imports.
Well FYI in my case my car was $40K + taxes etc...AND Yesterday my 2005 Pacifica was declared a LEMON, and we are not sure if we are going to get another one. It will be interesting for me to see if the others have the same problem. THe SEAMS of the car were not properly put together. And yes its does cost a lot for production..etc.. but no matter HOW MUCH it still should be 100% Functional whether it costs $1.99 or $$60,000. JMO
yeah im having trouble with mine. i have somehow trashed 2 transmission already. i guess the first one was my fualt from seeing how high it will go in first gear with the autostick, but the second one is really jacked up and i have been careful. the transmission is good becuase i have had the same transmission in a 2003 neon, and two 2004 intrepids. the first time i replaced it i took it to a chrysler dealer to fix it so it should fo been a certified chrysler mecahnics.
jgralka-talk to the BMW and Merceds techs, the lower end cars have major problems. They are in the shop more than our cars are. Also, I build engines on the side and buy at wholesale. There is no way Chrysler is buying roller cam and lifters, valves, composite intakes, 35lbs injectors, alternators, starters, and the countless other items that they don't manufacter themselves for 1000. That 7K prictag is a complete ready to run engine and the only items Chrysler has any control over price on are the block and heads-everything else is vendor supplied from somewhere else.
Well, I have to say that my Pac is over 8 months old and has been TROUBLE FREE. Happy owner here, with NO COMPLAINTS.
I have NOT been back to the dealer with it except to have the DRL's turned on. I get free oil changes, but I don't use it. I enjoy changine my own. TLC here.
