pacifica problems?
Gralka-its tough to have a heated discussion with folks who receive info second hand. I actually build engines for off-shore boats, and get to purchace parts at wholesale. I have a pretty good idea of what stuff costs. You are getting your info from some guy who dosen't even know what the company is paying for things-that is what accounting and purchasing is for. I have news for you-there is no manufacter' in the world selling you injectors for 1.00 each(4 plus a rail for 5.75). There is soooo much stuff you are obviously not aware of on that engine that Chrysler does not build, partial list:injectors, alternator, starter, throttle body, wiring harness, p/s pump, a/c compressor, belt, gaskets, PCM, valves, valve springs, retainers, keepers, intake manifold, plenum, spark plugs, ignition coils, etc..
My Pacifica is three months old and had 3000 miles. Any time there is a downpour the drivers footwell gets flooded, and now the car smells of mildew.
The Mopar remote start does not work
The drivers seat back will not return to upright using the door button, but thank God will return using the memory buttons.
The drivers seatbelt stinks of something awful (I kept thinking I forgot to put on deodorent till I figured out it was the belt!)
I am thinking at this time that the leak is comming from a gasket on the firewall that the dealer tore through to run wireing for the remote starter, so I will be atrributing the leak to crappy workmanship at the dealer.
As far as buying american, the sales guy tried that tactic on me I responded that the Pacifica is built in Canada, and the Honda I am replacing is built in Ohio, a state that has been struggling with huge losses in manufacutring jobs, so if I wanted to be patriotic I would be shopping at the Honda Dealer again. With the problems I am experiancing mabey I should have!
I will follow up after the dealer visit as to the outcome of these issues.

I bought a 2004 Pacifica in Jun04 and it leaks every time it rains!! I just got it back from the dealership for the third time only to find once again that they couldn't find anything. I have been in touch with Chrysler and the guy was very rude stating it is typical warranty work and they are not willing to buy it back. The seats are rusty now and the car smells. This is not 'typical' cars should not leak like this. The dealership has had it more than I have. I am furious how Chrysler treated me today. I have to pursue the lemon law no as well. There is no reason that when it rains the car floor gets soaked.
I just got my spanking new Pacifica last month, fully loaded I might add. The kids say it's like a movie theater on really nice wheels. The surround sound is insane. 2 hour soccer practices are no problem now. The only problem I have is lack of engine power. I mean, this thing can move for it's size, without passengers! Now if you load the car up, it seems to just take it's time. I'll give it a 9.5 out of a perfect 10. If a V8 comes out, the silver one is mine!!!
....now all these other problems you guys are having, I hope these are just isolated incidents.

I just sent a letter to Chrysler about my wifes Pacifica 13 months old passenger floor leaks bad (5 trips to dealer still no fix)[:@]and mold is accumulating under the mat. 1 st month the front end locked up had to replace it. two PCM modules (so far) check engine light comes on daily. Dealership mechanics are real dipshi*s. If that computer didn't tell them what to check they would be lost What hapened to the real mechanics who can diagnose problems? give a lazy man a job he will show you an easy way to do it.
There is so much new fangled crap on these things that the mechanics have no idea what the problems are. And we can thank the CEO's and upper management for the high prices we have to pay for cars, because they all need to make a huge income, which in comparison to what the average joe makes is disgusting, when it is the average joe that buys these. And of course if they built a car that lasted without all of these stupid problems they would not sell as many cars, which would mean less money for the big guy. It's all about big business and their profits these days, the more you pay the bigger the problems.
This leak was addressed in a Pacifica Forum but the essence of the message was that there is a known bad weld in mid 04 Pacs that causes this leak. There should be a TSB about this on file at your dealer. Amazing that they couldn't figure it out. pacifica Forum link

A lot of the problems are that the Dealers are the problems. While NO VEHICLE is problem free, the expertise and knowledge and helpfulness of the dealer is what satisfies the owners. I have an 04 Pacifica and have had NO PROBLEMS whatsoever with it. Very happy with it.
