Default Power Window on Neon

We have a 1998 Neon. The window on the driver's side door hits against the black plastic trim piece between the front and back door- just the very top right corner of the window hits. When trying to adjust the window (we tried to adjust the door, but it was in line) the window came off the track. We have no idea how to get the white plastic piece back in the track and we can't seem to figure out how to adjust the window from side to side- that is, it needs to be lower in the front (the edge toward the front of the car).

Any ideas? We just picked the car up for $700 as a winter car. It's in great shape otherwise. I didn't notice that the trim piece was off the car until I found it in the trunk and we attached it. It quickly popped off the first time I tried to open the door from the inside with the window all the way up.

Thanks!
