Default 99' 2.4 no spark reference from pcm

ok this is a good one. i have a 1999 dodge stratus with a 2.4. i had to run up on a snowbank the other day the car tried to restart a couple times right afterwardss but will not get any spark since then. ive replaced the crank sensor the cam sensor. checked for proper voltage at the crank and cam sensors checked all crank cam and ignition circuits for open or shorted wires. i am getting correct crank and cam reference at the wiring harness into the pcm but i cant get any ignition reference to come out of the pcm so i have replaced it twice itselfand also replaced the coil just to satasfy an urge. still the same problem. i have a friend with a 97 3.3 caravan who suffered light front collision damage that is currently having the same problem as i am. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

ok i think i got it.... and i noticed a few other similar posts on here that didnt look like they were ever resolved so this information may be helpfull to some of the rest of you. i decided to remove the cam sensor to view the rotation of the front cam. and to check for damage. the engine cranked as usual but the car did try starting with the cam sensor removed from the head but still pluged in. there was spark present at that time. but if i unpluged it completely it went back to no spark. my thoughts were that mabe it jumped time. im guessing if tere is good reference from both the crank and cam sensors and the computer recognizes a big difference it probably doesnt generate the reference needed to create the spark from the coil. so i checked the timing marks and found that my crank is about 6 teeth off of the timing mark, although both cams stayed in time with each other the crank did jump teeth. when i stopped quickly. i am too tired to attempt the repairs tonight but i will follow up if this fixes the problem. thanks guys.

that did it. reset the timing marks and she fired right up. im guessing the fast stop is what jumped the timing. that is usually when a timing belt will break is on a fast stop or on start up. cause that is when they are stressed the most. it would have been simple if it would have just broke.

good luck guys. hope this helps....

Correct me if I am wrong, but if the timing belt jumped 6 teeth the timing would be way off and the car would never start regardless of cam or crank signal.

It may have tried to start like he said because the ecu wasn't sure if it was out of time. It couldn't see both signals. Once it knew there was no signal or the two didn't match then it wouldn't spark. Did you replace the timing belt while you were there? Chances are theat if it stressed enough to jump that many teeth that it may have stressed enough that its not going to suvive long.

I am not sure about the stratus, but if my neon was 6 teeth off I would be doing a valve job.

Not all motors are interference, luckily for him, his isnt, or at least to the point of only being 6 teeth off. when i first started reading your post i was going to automatically assume cam or crank until you mentioned you replaced them, they are a common failure on all stratus
