Default ENGINE TROUBLE-FUEL INJECTION

PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN.

I have a 99 Quad 4x4 with Cummins 5.9 with 173,000 miles.
Last weekend it lost power on the freeway and the check engine light came on. After a tow home I pulled the codes and they are as follows:
po251, p0252, p0253 and p1688. I took it to the dealer and they told me my lift pump failed causing my enjector pump to fail. I brought it home and replaced the lift pump and bleed all the air accordingly, reset codes and now I am getting only the p1688 and it still won't start. Is my injector pump bad, or is there a cheaper avenue I can search first?

Daniel

Sounds like the injector pump is toast. I'm not too much into diesels but from what I have heard, most guys recommend installing a fuel pressure gauge on the dash to monitor the lift pump operation. If the pressure starts to drop you know you better shut down or get a new lift pump.
