Default neon battery drain

I have a 1995 Neon sport with the DOHC. A few weeks ago it started to act up. the battery light keeps coming on, and then turning off. When the positive battery cable is disconnected the lights brighten up, and the charge light turns off. I have already replaced the battery itself, and that only worked for about 2 hours. Does anyone know what the problem could be? I've checked all the wiring as far as I can tell, and still nothing. Today it decided to start for the first time in 8 days, and the light isn't on at all.... Can't run the heater, lights, radio(actually pulled the radio out), or even the wipers....I'm at the end of my rope...anyone have any suggestions????

Sounds like the alternator internal regulator gone bad.

Have the alternator checked at one of your local auto parts stores.

New alternator is most likely it. I am going with everyone else have it tested, a rebuilt one is only like $60 or so.
