Default fuel problem......help....

hey i have a 01 ram truck sport model with the 5.9L motor.....when i first bought it i did pretty good on gas mileage. now the last year or so i find myself using alot of gas and my driving habits have not changed. i fill up the truck twice a week now and im barely getting 200 miles out of a tank, and thats just driving locally its really bad, i have noticed the motor surging when climbing hills and when on cruise control, i had the truck checked out by a mechanic and he did a dyagnostic check on it and said everything is fine does anyone have any ideas or heard of this before, i know its a big motor and a gas hog as it is but this is an obviuos problem........

Replace the spark plugs, and full tune up. You might have a problem with the EGR. Also remove your foot from the floor board. I know I have that problem.[sm=gears.gif]

200 miles on a tank is about right for in-town driving. maybe you are noticing it more now cause of the gas prices?
