sorry this has absolutly nothing to do with Dodge

i was putputen around and occasionally getting on it on my xr100r honda 2002 and right as i was about to stop i noticed a clanking sound... i have no idea what it is and just wondered if you guys knew anything about them like perhaps its a tooth off of 5th geAR? i was putten around in 5th for a while.. i know its on the left side by the shifter and if i shock the bike a little like tappin on the pegs it goes clankin around like its on the crankshaft being thrown around.. i am gonna see if somehow i can retrieve it with a magnet.

please only people who know stuff about dirtbikes give me knowledgeble help and what not, this bike is small for me duh but i love racing it around the yard and i dont know what happend i hope i didnt F$#^ it up bad if i did

btw engine runs perfect even during these clanking sounds going on, if you want i can record it with my mp3 player and put together a sound file and a pic of where on bike it makes the sound at if it helps.

You need to try to give alittle better description of the sound... Also when the bike does it the most... It doesn't sound like a crank bearing to me I have never heard of it clanking before... I know when mine went bad it was more of a like a rubbing noise in the lower end at idle... I would sugest doing a bolt check and see if something worked its way lose dirtbikes and quads are bad for bolts coming lose due to the vibrations produced.

 

Yeah, hard to say with that, but something easy to check, make sure the chain isn't too lose.

I doubt a chipped tooth would make that noise... I think its something else try to record the sound if you can and get a picture of that sprocket

 

I have a 2001 Honda XR100, mine made a clanking noise too. Is your trans hard to get into neutral? I changed the oil and the clanking noise went away? I don't ride mine too often, but I guess the oil just brakes down. One time i was up north and it started doing it again, ran it through a lake and it stopped hahahahaha. I still had to change the oil though.

 

problem solved: was the magneto cover, aparently one time when my chain popped off it took the wall of the cover out into the magneto area, well we welded it, cast alum. and permatexed and bolted it back up

took the bike mudding this weekend and was going thru 1-2 feet of water, and 4-14 inches of mud no prob, and lots of fun

lol, its not like a super bike or anything, i wanna upgrade im too big for it but i like to be able to throw around the bike easily, ill get a pic up after school, also a pic of my quad
