Default 1998 ram

Is it normal for an older ram to have play in the steering.

Depending on the milage it is normal for any steering system to have play. I would have it looked at and see where the play is coming from.

i've replaced the steering sector and the tie rods. there's still play but not as bad before i replaced this. my mechanic said the the ball joints where fine.. would it be worth fixing anything else . would the sway bar cause this. it's worse when driving in windy conditions
