I just purchased an 04 Neon SE. The first week I was driving it I did not notice anything wrong at all with the brakes. Just recently I have noticed a high pitched squeaking noise when breaking at low speeds, very seldom does it occur at higher ones. The stopping power is fine, however. I called the dealerships service dpt about this, and they told me that it just had brand new rotors, pads, and shoes put on 10/17/05. They said that the squeaking is normal in lighter cars because of the composition of the pads they use. Is this a normal thing? Should I be worried? As I said before, its stops on the dime.

 

It can be normal depending on what compound pads they used. Ahigh metalic pad can make a noise. Look at the pads and rotors.. Do they look new? are the pads of decent thickness? If the problem developed after driver ask them to take a look at it. It should still be covered.
