Default Two minor problems

I do not ave my day-time running lights. I started my 96 Dodge 4X4 the other night and noticed that the lights never came on. I checked the fuses and nothing, any ideas out there?

Also, my grill is peeling .... What can I do? It has not actually peeled yet, but it is bubbled, big time. Is there a way of removing the chrome so I can prime it and paint it at least?[&o]

Could the relay have burn out, or wires may have been disconected.

I think the grill crome might be removed by using sand paper. and then painted

Relay? Where might that be located? I went through everything, not sure what I am looking for, and could not see anything marked for day-time runners. As for the grill, I will give it a try. Has anyone done this and is there a pic of what they done I can see?

Chip off what you can and then sand the rest off. Use a high # sandpaper though, the lower #'s are coarser and can deeply groove the plastic. Try a 600 grit at first and then move up to a 1,000 grit to smooth it up nicely. Use the coarser paper lightly just to be on the safe side.

Right-on..[sm=smiley20.gif].. I can do this. What should I use for a primer? I have painted vehicles, but never plastic.

The same thing. There is a type of paint that claims to bond with plastics on a molecular level, I believe it is a Dupli-Color paint.

DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS
The daytime running lamps are controlled by the Daytime Running Lamp Relay (DRLR) The DRLR is located in the engine compartment on the left fender wheelhouse. The DRLR allows the high beam headlamps to illuminate at 50% of the switched ON brightness when the engine is running with the headlamp switch OFF. The Daytime running lamps will go out when the headlamp switch is pulled out. The passing light feature will flash bright high beams while the daytime running lamps are activated.
DAYTIME RUNNING LAMP (DRL) MODULE
On vehicles built for sale in Canada, the low-beam headlamps operate when the ignition switch is in the RUN position and the park brake switch is OPEN.

Circuit L10 from fuse 15 in the fuse block supplies voltage to the DRL module. Circuit A3 from the PDC connects to DRL module.

The DRL module receives information on park brake switch position on circuit G11.

Circuit L4 powers the low beams of the headlamps. When the headlamp switch is OFF, the DRL module powers the low beams on circuit L4. When the headlamps are ON, the multi-function switch powers the low beams on circuit L4.

Circuit L3 feeds the high beams of the headlamps. When the operator flashes the headlamps with the stalk of the multi-function switch, the DRL senses voltage on circuit L3 and stops supplying power to the low beams on circuit L4. Circuit Z1 provides ground for the DRL module.

Hope this helps.......

Hi,

I found your message while searching the DRL topic. I'm hoping you can help as you seem to be very knowledgeable in this area. I would like to enable DRL's on my US market '00 & '05 Grand Caravans. The '00 is US built; the '05 is Canadian built. I have the factory service manuals for each vehicle. Are you able to shed any light on this?

Thanks!

On my 94 dakota 4x4 slt the daytime running lights do not come on until the truck is taken out of park and on some vehicals the do not come on untill the vehical moves. Try this and see if the DRL.s come on and if so this is normal.
Hope to have helped.

As a Canadian i've had to insall DRL.s on many American vehicals .
On the caravans it is as simple as installing a new signal light flasher in most cases.
make sure to get the one for DRL equiped vehicals it is twise the size of one without DRL's.
It should plug right in and u should have DRL,s
