starting problem on 97 stratus
I have a 97 Dodge Stratus. Bought it two weeks ago and the thing only had about 45000 miles on it. It started and ran great when I bought it. I go out today and try to start it and it wont start. My husband checks fuses, relays etc and finds a blown fuse. It starts again but then the fuse blows. It has an aftermarket remote starter on it so he disables this then replaces the fuse and it starts once or twice then wont start again. So he puts the fuse back in for the remote starter and it starts but only with the remote not with the key. OK so he checks all the wires still thinking the remote starter is messing up but then he goes to turn the key and it starts again. Tries it a few more times and it works then we are ready to go and it wont start again. Now my thought is at this point it has to be the ignition switch because he hits the steering wheel and it starts again turns it off and it wont start then hits the side of the wheel and again it starts. Any ideas aside from the ignition switch on what could be the problem? Also checked the nuetral safety switch thinking maybe it was not starting because it was not all the way in park but it wasnt that. Any help would be appreciated....Thanks!!
Oh yes and no noises from the starter. When it does start it starts right up and when it wont turn over with the key in the ignition the remote starter works now. Other then this there are no problems with the car. Im guessing the ignition switch needs to be replaced but cant figure out if that is the only problem or even if it is the problem since itll start sometimes
