Hey guys, I have a problem after putting a new (used 88,000 mile) engine in my dads truck. All electrical connections to my knowledge are all hooked up. I was looking it over again tonight and all seems to be in it's place. Went to start it and all I get is cranking. Checked the fuel rail, got fuel pressure so pump is ok (recently replaced this past year). We pulled a plug to check for spark and found out we are getting none . I am not really too familiar with diagnosing Dodge trucks, and have limited knowledge with Dodge cars. something that may help you guys help me, we replaced the distributor cap and the rotor inside. When the newengine was out we cranked the engine to check if the rotor inside was turning and it did. This problem has me and my dad confused . Any help is greatly appreciated .

Sorry for the long response time, I went to sleep a little while after I posted . We are going to be looking over the engine today to check everything over again. quick question though, would the Oxygen sensor being unplugged prevent the engine from being able to start? I am leaning towards it not preventing it, but my dad wanted to know. Anyways, while we are checking it over, is there anything else that can be checked while we are out there?

no, the O2 shouldnt prevent it from starting...it will just cause the motor to run at wide open loop (I think thats the term)

And the O2 Sensor not being plugged in could likely cause a code... and the engine light to come on... That happened to me once... LOL!

Found out what is most likely the problem. When my dad bolted the tranny back up, he didn't know the CPS sensor plug and wire fell inot the bell housing . I think I told him a thousand times while we put it back together to make sure the CPS sensor lined up without breaking it and clip the wire in ...hes blonde . Putting the new one in tonight, we'll see how things play out. Now I do have a question concerning the sensor...on my SHO I had to gap the sensor when I put it in, does the same need to be done on this one? Thanks for the replies, hopefully this thing is gonna be running soon , one can only hope!
