Default Entire cooling system in Oil Pan?

Ok, another dumb question that Im taking for granted here...

I bought this 99 Intrepid under the assumption that it needed a new head gasket (symptoms and cursory exam looked like that was it). I bought this product called "Steel Seal" just to give it a shot (it's supposed to seal a gasket through chemical processess that are non-particulate).

Through the prep for the application of this product, I had to pull the thermostat out (dont try that at home LOL, took me a full day to get out and everything put back together... INSane Design!).

So I mixed up the product, and poured it into the coolant reservoir and started up the car per instructions. Well, for about 10 to 20 minutes the car ran and I was adding coolant to get the 9qts capacity into the cooling system. Suddenly the car craps out and wouldnt stay running again! Lo and behold the product requires running to do its job (heat). I had to let the car sit for about a week because I was out of time to do things and came back to it....

Well, I decided to drop the pan and change the oil because it was horrifically fouled by coolant... lo and behold... THe ENTIRE contents of my cooling system decided to come out of the oil pan! Now, Im bamboozled... ive never seen this before. Could anyone confirm or deny to me that it's simply my head gasket leaking (gotta be a holy cow hole!) which would cause all my coolant to be in my oil pan, or is there something else I should be looking at???

The car does have a white smoke tailpipe situation, but pulling the plugs I find NO evidence of any cylinders being drenched, plugs were old (just changed em) but didnt seem to be wet. Oh yeah, once I drained all that slop out of the pan, the car ran again so my theory is that it was quasi-hydro locked but Im not sure... Just looking to see if anyone has similar experience or unique knowledge to offer up... would all my coolant being in the crankcase be a head gasket? or should I melt this car down for spare parts?

Im getting ready to do the head shortly so I'll be better able to inspect components, but Im not prepared to go beyond the head at this point (its a shadetree mechanic job Im doing)

O my dude....
if that much coolant is in your pan, then likely it's more than a head gasket starting to fail.

My guess is that you have a cracked block and need a replacement engine. Can't rebuild that mill.

Sorry, fella.
