Best pistons & rods for a blown 408
Hey.. Im ready to get the pistons and rods for my 408.. I want to run some boost and I know to go with all forged internals, but I was wondering what type I should get such as Flat or domed or what? I want this motor to be S/c in the end so I need to keep it in the right compression which is 8.2 right? And someone said it can be up to 9.0 for ceramic coated.. *sigh* I need a little schooling on the compression thing..I've been trying to pick up some info via google!
Apart from general info, I was also wondering about what Brands I should go with or stay away from? I've been looking into Ross Pistons and "JE"
How will my selection affect the balance of this engine? Do the rods and pistons really make a big difference
Thanks,
-Jason

yes, rods and pistons make the engine. lunati makes a great combo for the stroked 360 to a 408. want a good set up to handle the boost. stamped rods are ok for stock motors but forged or cromemoloy are the best. you are gonna pay a little more now but in the long run you will be better off.

You can try sending a private message to RM_Indy.
He just installed a 408 that was built with boost (a procharger) in mind.
