I was wondering if anyone knows of the possibility of a Hemi swap. I currently have a 2000 Durango R/T and would like to swap the 5.9 Magnum with the Hemi. I have also heard a rumor that Dodge created a new head for 5.9's that have hemispherical design. Is this true??????

 

yes there is a hemi head for the 5.9 though I dont believe its made by dodge...though I will try to find the site again for you.

as for the swap...its always possible...though you will need to fab mounts for it...get the wire harness for the hemi as well as PCM....probably have to get a new tranny or atleast a housing depending on bolt patterns...after all is said and done you would be better off just getting a KB S/C!!!

 

Blowing is always good. Thats another option i have looked into but it would be awesome if i good find that top end with the hemi heads for the 5.9. THanks a lot.

 

if I remember right thats going to run you about 4 grand...pluss you have to send them your block for them to do the work to it.

That conversion will run around eight grand which is kinda steep so either ill get the 5.7 hemi or supercharging. Thanks for the info though.

supercharging would be cool, but what will your hp be at after wards? the HEMI starts at 345hp stick a blower on that, that'd be sick.<IMG src=smileys/smiley4.gif border="0">

 

despite the outragous price, you have to admit that the hemi conversion with a big ol' holley or bg carb on top would make a sick engine.</P>

Yeah its pretty tempting. I am going to try and keepmy eye out for a car thats been totaled and see if i cant pull the engine out of it. That or win the lottery which ever happens first. Have any of you guys seen the Rumble Bee Rams that have the 5.9 with the blower. I believe it has the Kenne Belle roots style blower on it.They clame its close to 500 hp. It is designed bya companycalled Performance West Group.
