Default overdrive question

is it true that if you have he overdrive on while towing it will actually ruin the overdrive. ive heard a lot of people say that but is there actually hard evidence of it. thanx for the help

Overdrive is meant for cruising under light loads and saving gas and reducing engine wear by lowering the engine RPMs....any "extra load" you put on it under those conditions will certainly not help it....

Don't tow in OD, its not good for the engine or the transmission. Why is not important, just don't do it.
