Amsoil Questions and answ
You can disagree with AMSOIL recommendations all day long, its your choice, stick with it. However the fact is, Oil Analysis doesn't lie. It doesn't care if you don't like AMSOIL or whether your salesmen didn't believe in it either. You cannot argue with the fact that Oil Analysis states whether the oil is good or bad. By default, Oil Analysis proves that AMSOIL gets the job done PERIOD! In many cases, it exceeds AMSOIL's expectations. These are plain and simple facts. AMSOIL has proven it over and over again through ANALYSIS, not old school beliefs

One of the reasons I have doubted their claims is because I know what lengths some companies will go to to sell their product. One example, I cannot remember which company, but everyone has seen the commercials, is a mouth wash where they state how rinsing with their mouth wash is 300 times better than brushing alone. They are misleading you without lying to you. It is 300 times better than brushing alone. What their not telling you is they mean brushing alone, literally. As in without toothpaste. I am NOT claiming that Amsoil is one of these companies, I'm just trying to let you know where I'm coming from and why I've had a problem with some of their claims.

This is an on-going study that may be of interest to you regarding what appens to oil in the long run. They are currently doing the same study with Amsoil but do not have any results in yet. I don't think it's fair to say that Mobil 1 is better than Amsoil or vise versus until the Amsoil study is done.

That is one thing that I have made sure to never claim, because I do not know what oil IS the best. It has been a topic of much debate. The only oil I have experienced any problems with was Valvoline in my Roadrunner. The engine shop I had rebuild the engine in my Shelby Z put Valvoline in it, so I also put Valvoline in it so they couldn't dispute the warranty based on the oil or oil change intervals. However, I did have to return the car for a head and turbo problem, I wonder if it was the Valvoline.

Absolutely not, in order for the oil to void warranty, it has to cause a failure. in 30 years, AMSOIL has not had a claim.
Also, if a dealer tries to tell you it will void your warranty, please
get them to put it in writing. And then send it to AMSOIL, and they
will be set straight.
The Magnusson Moss act of 75' keep dealers from voiding warranties on
many things, including this. See the other threads in this forum.

I have 12000 miles on my 03 ram hemi. I want to change over to Amsoil.
1) Do I need to flush the engine? Every oil change I have had was done by the dealer.
2) All I need to replace is the oil and oil filter right?
3) I live in Phoenix AZ, where can I buy Amsoil?

No need to do a flush, your engine is very new.
If you want to do the 6 month or 7500 mile oil change interval, buy 8 quarts of XL7500 10w-30 and one filter (SDF-42 or SDF-15 larger size)
If you want the extended drain oil (1 year or 25,000 mile oil)
Buy 8 or 9 quarts of SAE 10w-30 and two oil filters. At 6 months or 12,500 miles (whichever comes first) you will need to replace the oil filter and top off the oil.

Bill,
I agree, the PC plan is the way to go. You get the oil (and anything else you want) at dealer cost and they send you a bunch of goodies in the mail. $10 for 6 months or $20 a year...since I HAVE to get my SRT-4 oil changes every 90 days as part of the extended warranty/service contract, I'm saving money, plus I like the test results verses Mobile 1.
BTW, I asked the dealer about Amsoil, and he said as long as it meets API Service SL-CF (it does) it would not void the warranty.
