I personally don't own either, BUT... I've never heard any complaints from PT Cruiser drivers... never. I have a hard time comparing the PT Cruiser to the Durango, but I think both are exceptional choices... I like the new Durango, but I have heard some minor complaints, but nothing that would deter me from buying one...

C'mon people, let's have some more insight!!

I don't own one myself or drive one on a regular basis. But my dad owns one and he loves it. I've driven it quite a few times. It rides very nicely. I think it was designed very well, everything in the car was well thought out. He uses it to haul things around, he just pulls the back seats out and he has lots of room to cart all kinds of things around. I will say this though, I'm not real impressed with its engine. The 2.4L auto is not very zippy, oh well I don't drive that so its not a problem. Anyways, my dad loves the PT.

You either love the PT design or hate it. When it was first introduced, there was a waiting list a mile long for them. Now, sales have tapered off and they introduced a rag top version in an attempt to boost sales. A few people I know who have driven one liked everything about the car except for it being a little down on power. [&:]

Well, as a replacement for my SRT-4, it's a giant step backwards in speed. My rental one is an automatic which makes driving pretty boring compared to blasting down the road in a SRT-4. I will say it has "nicer" interior with some chrome touches and plenty of room. It handles OK and the fit and finsh are both above average.

Yes, the automatic PTs are not very peppy. My neon would embarass my dads PT. I wonder how quick the turbo PTs are? I liked the interior on them a lot, its a very versatile vehicle if you ask me. Can pull the back seats out in minutes. The ride quality is great, definitely better than my neon, but I'm dropped so of course it will ride better.

I cleaned up the exterior a bit yesterday. The "touring package" adds a lot of chrome to the car and makes it look a bit more "retro".. It's not a bad car, just not one built for speed.

I'll give you some info on the turbo PT's My brother had a 2003 auto shift. If I were to buy one it would have to be a Turbo. I raced him before he got rid of it with my SRT4 I beat him from a dead stop by about 8 cars. From a roll It wasnt even a race. Now Its not all about speed. The PT was a good ride. It was roomy enough for his family of four. It wasnt the fastest thing out there but the autoshift gave it a racey feel. Im a big fan of the PT and the Durango. Both are good rides. It will just come down to his budget, and personal likes or dislikes the Durango is alot bigger. Its not much buts thats my 2 cents
