Default question about -AN plumbing fittings...........

can someone please tell me if a -6 AN hose is equivalent to 3/8" hose?

Also, when using AN fittings with fuel, I know it might be a good idea to used teflon but, is it necessary or should it not be used ?

-6 is .290 id and -8 is .390 id use -8 for 3/8 line size, never use teflon tape or any other sealeron AN/MS fittings, try not to over torque the hose ends on assembly of 37 deg fittings, teflon tapeshould be used on pipe fitting end of adaptor fittings only.

Sound advice above. Aircraft fittings use a different angle of flair. Some companies like ZEX or other NOS companies make adapters. Fuel breaks teflon down quickly. Cheers, Aircraft Maintenance Engineer.
