air condition problems
My air conditioner no longer puts out any cold air. Everything else about the climate control system works just fine. I only have 49,000 miles on my 99 interpid es and live in a very mild climate so the a/c is hardly ever used. Can I be out of refrigerant with so few miles on the car and with infrequent use? Also, when starting the car cold there is a "slapping" sound coming from the engine. after the engine heats up, the slapping sound disappears. When starting the car when its hot, there is no slapping sound at all.
Could the slapping sound be a belt problem?
Could the lack of cold a/c air be a fuse problem?
Thanks,
Steve

Lack of freon could be why the AC is not blowing cold air, infact even though you do not use the AC it is a good idea to let it run for a few minutes to help lubricate the seals, etc. even in in the winter time. Best thing to do is to take it some place that can check to see if you have any freon, if not have them fill it, should cost less about $50-$75 depending on how much freon is needed. The slapping sound could be a loose belt that needs to be replaced or tightened. Good luck and God Bless.
