NAV No Workie... Need Help!!!
Hi, All:
Newbie here but think I'll be hanging around... this site is great!!
I have a problem with a factory NAV unit that I just installed in my '06 Dodge truck. The unit is the 2nd generationREC factory system with 5 in. display. I am getting consistent "Error reading NAV Disc" message and the mapping fuinction does not work. The bad part is, I bought the unit off of e-bay and it was listed as a "mint Mopar NAV Unit"... well, the seller has been decent and is working with me to try to resolve the issue. He sent me a replacement unit yesterday. Well, guess what... it has the exact same problem!! I tried both NAV discs in both units, and still get same error on both units. I find it hard to believe that two different units with two different NAV discs would have the same problem... unless... it's a common problem with these particular units.... My local dealers have been useless. I stopped by each of them to see if they would pop a known good NAV disc in to rule out my discs as being bad, but they said I needed an appointment and would have to pay $89 pre hour since this is not a warranty issue. I'd buy a new NAV disc and try it, but the suckers are $225!!! What a RIP that is!
So, my question is, are people having trouble with their factory NAV units?? If so, I'd like to hear about the problems, and what the dealer is doing about them. I have a sneaking suspicion that the REC unit may be troublesome.
Any help is appreciated!!!
