Default code wont go away

I have an 02' Ram 1500 with the 5.9L and about 1 month ago, i got the code P 0305, which is a misfire on cylinder 5, so I took it in and got a complete tune-up, and the light went away, and just today, i started it up and the check engine light came on, and when i checked the code, it gave the same one, P 0305. is this just some kind of mistake? or is there somethin messed up in cyl. 5? all brand new plugs and wires, and new distributor. help please!!

I have the same problem with my 98 1500.. But on the #8 And occasionally on the # 5. Had the whole top end cleaned and engine tuned up and i still get the error. It has my dealer and an outside mechanic stumped. If you hear anything or get the problem fixed i would appreciate if you could let me know what it was..thanks

Do you have more than 70,000 miles or more? If so I would recommend to replace the cylinder heads. What happens in the valve seats drop or you get a cracks beteen the exhaust and intake valves.

I have a 96 Ram 1500 full size van 3.9L.

I had the same type of problem 300 and 30Xmisfire codes. New plugs, wires, cap, rotor, etc .... you get the picture. Could not get the MIL to go out. I finally said forget it (or something like that) -- this is ridiculous -- I'll take my chances and pay the fine if necessary.

About 6-8 weeks later the light goes out and has not returned in 2 years.

i have to agree with master tech.. another thing to look out for is vacuum leaks.. these will trigger misfire codes..
