Gutted Cat + High Flow cat for a 99 ram1500
Right nowI have a Magnaflow cat-back system, and a K&N Cool air intake. I want to have the deep rumble sounds to my rig but was confused on all that needs to be done to acheive it. I looked through some posts on here and found people who have gutted there cat and others who have a high flow cat. I dont have acess to a welder so cutting off my cat and gutting it thenwelding it back on would be difficult(or are there other ways to do it?).Would a high flow cat installed on the stock piping with my magnaflow system give the louder rumble i'm looking for?
the high flow would make a bit of a difference but you would still be required to cut the old one off and weld the high flow back on...u dont have to weld but clamps leave exhaust leaks..if it doesnt have a rumble already with the cat back system i would look at maybe going with true dual exhaust or headers to help allow more exhaust out
I agree with TDak, I would go with true duals. I just got it done to my 07 hemi and it sounds great, and I'm sure it would sound just as awesome on your truck. I didn't get any mufflers at all, but I like that popping sound that no mufflers gives you. But it is still louder than hell and has a good deep rumble, so with mufflers that rumble would probably be even deeper. So true duals is the way I would go. Good luck!
