well guys I just got a "ticket" today for too loud exhaust (more like a warning), from the MAN. and I agreed with him that my truck is too darn loud. I have 30 days to fix it or it gets impounded. The cop lives just 7 0r 8 houses away from me. I have to get it fixed then report myself and my truck to him. Some one besides him called it in.

i'm right now runnin a gutted cat AND a little 12" race use only muffler, which was a bad idea and nothing else

 

I used to have a 5.9L Ram with a Y-pipe, no mufflers, and a performance cat. I also got a ticket and I was forced to put a muffler on it[:@]

I raced some kid earlier that night and whooped his *** while his g/f was in his passenger seat. Therefore, he called his buddy (a cop) and reported me.

I don't see how being too loud deserves a ticket.....If anything being too quiet should be ticketable, i mean, that's a safety hazard. How can you be aware of a car in your blind spot if you can't see, OR hear it. That's just dangerous. If you have some spare time, I'd try to justify your ticket in court saying that its an "Added safety feature" .....you're only protecting your investment by making sure you are visible, or at least audible to all drivers at all times

 

Why are Harleys so loud? So they can be heard. They can easily be over looked, but definately audible.

 

For that matter Harleys are often the loudest thing on the road by far, and I've never seen them pulled over for it.

Well yeah, I'm just sayin if they're not gonna hassle them they shouldn't hassle anyone else about exhaust either.

Most of the time the Harleys are loud becauce they take a pipe and punch a hole in the muffler the only real way to check it is to stick your hand in the extremely hot exhaust pipe. So most of the time they just say f it and let them go. On trucks most states have a min. size muffler so they can just look underneath.
