Could someone answer my question???

i have flowmasters on my Mirada, but it sounds good no matter what.

You should have heard my dads Maverick, It sounded bad ***!!! It has a somewhat built 351 windsor, and no blower, and it puts out about 500 horse, she was quick!!!!! according to a 1/4 mile calc it could have ran high 10s but my dad could only get 12s.

Natedogg: I have owned two Dakotas in the last 5 yrs.....I loved those trucks.....would probably still have one if gas mileage wasnt an issue..... Here's what you need to do......you obviously want a nice deep rumble but not anything that's going to be stupid loud and obnoxious......First thing first.....I would look into some custom bent or aftermarket exhaust pieces......this is all optional as your muffler may make all the sound you really want........ as you have a Dakota.....I would honestly suggest the flowmaster exhaust.....it's got a nice deep rumble....and it sounds good when ya pull up next to a F150 and smoke him at the light.....as for dual exhaust.....it may actually hurt the performance of the truck......while it looks good and sounds cool.....some of the newer trucks actually lose performance on the "dual exhaust" it's mostly because they don't bother to upgrade everything in the exhaust to keep the engine running at peak performance... they just do cosmetic stuff......just make sure you are getting better performance out of it........otherwise its not worth the money...

Just for counter point I'm looking at doing a Magnaflow exhaust on my Durnago int he next year or so. I need to save up a bit before more mods. I think their product may be superiour to Flowmaster and Ihate saying that as I have used them in the past and they did an awesome job on a friends 1996 Dodge Ram as a test mule for the product. It sounded great. I am looking for something that sounds great but not too loud in the cabin and have been told the Magnaflow is better than factory for flow and still retains the same cabin volume. If it was just me rididng I wouldn't care too much but the Mrs. doesn't care for the noise and I respect that. It can be annoying on a long drive.

In a Durango there's more of the cabin riding over the exhaust and there is also less pipe distance I do believe. Also, Magnaflows are great. I was merely commenting on my own personal experiences in a Dakota. I had a factory exhaust on my truck that ran great and you could barely even hear the truck idling.......except when you stomped on it......added a Flowmaster and it ran a lil louder but with a nice deep tone.....if you cant truly make a decision........go with what's either cheaper to your pocket.....or more something you are leaning towards regardless of our opinions
