I think for what you are looking for is definately the 50 series...it isn't too loud at idle and it sounds really good as the RPMs rise...if you really want it quiet when you are at idle and don't want anything overly loud when driving around, you should check out the Magnaflows...My step-dad had one put on his '02 HD Chevy with a 8.1L, sounded really good and it wasn't too loud

hey when w/ the flows 40 series is it loud enough where when u really step on it ull set car alarms off..thats what id want

It depends on the engine and the rest of the exhaust. My Roadrunner with a mildly built 440, headers and full 3" exhaust with 50 series Flowmasters and it can set off car alarms on start up if the alarm is sensitive enough.

I've done that at least once with every car I've had, except the '87 Shelby Z, I never drove it and only bought it for parts or fixing up.

The Gibson seems like it would be perfect for you. Quite serene when idling and at low speeds but when given throttle opens up quite well. check it out.
