I don't want to kill my neighbours
I'll be updating my exaust in the next couple of days and told my mechanic that I wanted to install Flowmater 40's in the truck. Now I'm reading some of these posts and I'm having second thoughts. I'm looking for an exaust that at idle and low RPM will be fairly quiet, not silent but not shaking windows, but when I hit on it will open up and annouce to the world "I'm coming thru". I'm going to be surfing the web today for some information and sound bites but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Never mind, I went to the Flowmaster website (http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/cgi-bin/flowmaster) and found some sound bites. I think I'll play it safe and go with the Flowmaster 50, and if it's too tame I'll change it out later with a 40.
You chose the ones I was going to suggest, the 50 series. I have them on my Roadrunner, they are just what your looking for. They have a great rumble at idle and low RPM's, but when you hit it everyone will know.[sm=smiley20.gif] I actually want to switch to the 40 series though, I love it loud all the time.[sm=smiley4.gif][sm=smiley2.gif]
Thanks for the reply. Yeah I love nasty pipes. I've got Vance and Hines straightshots on my Harley and everyone knows when I kick it over. But I also get looks from the neighbors and my wife keeps telling me her neighborhood friends tell her that they hate when I take it out on sundays. Since the truck is a daily driver I guess I should be a "good neighbor", for now at least [sm=smiley2.gif]
That 71 Plymouth must be sweet...Had a 67 goat with the 389 (no tri power tho) around 1980. Loved that car. Had to sell it for college[sm=smiley19.gif]

I've known lots of people who have had to let their fun cars go for various reasons.[&o] My Roadrunner is THE one thing I will NEVER parts with, even if the money was needed to save my life.[sm=smiley14.gif] I could die happy with it, but I could NEVER live without it.[sm=smiley2.gif]
Yeah, I hear ya. You also have to remember we're talking 20+ years ago. My car sold for $2500.00. You could pick up a 440 Firebird (which a friend of mine at the time did) for $1,000.00 and it RAN. Who would've thought at the time they would be going for $10K in **** poor condition today. In the shape my car was in I could've got at least $20K today for it. Hindsight is 20/20.
Picked my truck up last night with the Flowmaster 50's and I'm extemely happy. Exactly what I was looking for. Low end rumble when it's idleing, while cruising there's still a slight rumble but I can still hear the CD player, and passing there's a roar to wake people up. Driving to work this morning sitting at a stop light a girl in a car next to me was on her cell phone with her windows rolled down. I pulled up, she looked over at me in disgust and rolled her window up. I LOVE IT WHOO HOOO.

Glad to hear it, without actually hearing it.[sm=smiley20.gif][sm=smiley36.gif] Do you have the regular 50 series or the Delta Flow 50 series?

I honestly don't know?? I didn't realize there was a Delta Flow model. I have to check with the guy who did the install. Good guy, he handed me a total bill with an outline of what was done (Shocks, Exhaust), no detail. I'll let you know.
