Cloth seats...dye or paint??
I have a daytona shelby Z which i recently did a full interior swap in. It was tan, now black. I want to keep the old seats, but i need them to be black. I have heard i can dye them black, if this is true, were do i get this stuff? How well does this work? I dont want anyone to be able to tell, am i better off just spending the $300 to have them reupholstered in leather??
Yes you can do it with dye. Its gonna take a lot of cans of dye if you want it to look good. It should tell you on the cans how to do certain surfaces. On fabric I believe you spray some on and let it dry. Then you have to brush it to keep it from getting hard and stiff. (I just realized how sick that sounded. Sorry) Then just repeat the steps until the process is complete. Honestly I'm not really sure how well it will hold up. As far as bleeding goes.
dont dye or paint it. doing that stuff to fabric is so hard to get the color even throughout the surface. on top of that its terribly messy. i think if you try to dye it your going to end up wasting the money on the dye and in the end get the seats redone anyway. i would just get them recovered exactly how you want and have it done the right way the first time.
