Default 4.0 to 5.2 swap in cherokee

Well my 88 jeep cherokee 4.0 gave up on me. #1 has no compression and #5 has 30. The other 4 have about 125 average which surprise me since the motor has 210,xxx on it. Any one done this before? I plan using as much as I can from a Grand cherokee to get the parts from.

are you going with the 5.2 over the 4.0 because you have a 5.2/undrivable GClaying around? or are you doing so for more power out of the cherokee? if its more power that you want, there are performance options for the cherokee...i have seen a guy run at norwalk over the last few years with a banks-worked 4.0, and hes in the mid 12s...its sick.

oh, and your charger is awesome.

As of today yes I do have a rolled 93 GC that still runs great. 318 auto the miles are little high 173,xxx but if it like my dads dakota it got another 50,xxx left in it.

if youre going through the trouble of doing the swap, i would recommend going through the motor first to make sure that its ok.

I'm not to worried about going through it since 318 around are plentful and 4.0 aren't. If I was to go through then it would be hard for me to not put a cam headers and other thing that would make me have more problems in the long run. Stock motor will be the best. The only thing that I might do is the headers.

Took a look at last night. The GC has every option that I could think of. The info screen in the console and overhead console, infinity sound system, leather, abs, auto darking mirror and a hitch. It rolled hard on it front part of the roof pushing in down a foot.
