Hello all and I am a new 2005 JGC owner. In regards to this new 5 sp transmission, I have had nothing but problems with it since I bought the Jeep 2 weeks ago. 600 miles and already in the dealer 2 times for shuddering problems with the trans. There is a TSB out for the issue, moisture is getting into the transmission and causing severe shuddering and surging. Service was performed according to the TSB, I drove it out and had to take it right back the following day.

Its a shame, such a nice new Grand Cherokee design yet such poor R&D with the new 5sp tranny.

It doesnt seem to be widespread, people are having the same problems with the Jeep and 300c but it doesnt seem to be 100% of the cars with this tranny. I am hoping that the problem is fixed after this 2nd visit. The dealer is now going to drop the transmission to ensure that all moisture contamination is removed. If this issue still persists then it will be 3 times going to the dealer for the same problem and I will start working on with Lemon Law procedures.

i just found out with my WJ that the rear diff might b stuffed, when we reversed and turned the wheels the rear diff made a funny sound and the dude from Hammonds Jeep think that either the wrong diff oil and additives r in it or the actual cogs r stuffed

Hi there shiftyeyes!

Sorry for the delayed response. I was out of the office for about a week or so. Now, back to your question. You're exactly right! It provides you with the convenience of an automatic transmission together with the option of having the spirited feel of a manual transmission.

Were there any other questions that you wanted me to answer?
