Default Key FOB - all confused

Ok so this morning I go out to get in the Jeep to go to work...unlocked it w/ the Key FOB I always use...doors unlocked just fine.

I drop the stuff I got in my hands in the passenger seat & remember I forgot something in the house. Lock the doors & hit the remote start (might as well get it warming up)...come back outta the house and hit the unlock and no unlock. Jeep turns off instead. Hit the unlock again and the Jeep starts.

Now I can press any button on my FOB and the remote start engages. I can't unlock the Jeep at all w/ the key FOB. The alarm is still set though (heres a tip...don't use the key to unlock the door when you used the FOB to set it [:@][:@] especially at 5 am).

My second key works just fine. So I know it isn't the computer & it is just the key.

Now for my million dollar question.....anyone know if the Jeep has the same re-program process as the Dodge?

I found a reset code & wanted to see if it was the same....called my gal at the dealership...she said to go for it and if it blows it up she'll square me away

You should have heard her laugh when I explained that ANY key on my FOB started the Jeep...I think she kinda wants to see it before I try to reset it.

Didn't bring the messed up key to work ([:@][:@][:@] yeah that was helpful hun) so I'm gonna try to reset it tonight. Here's hoping

Yeah the Jeep had the remote start already installed. The Key FOB just has an extra button...works well.

Now if only I could program the heated seat to turn on automaticly

so here's an update on the possessed key fob---

It killed the Jeep. Yuppers didn't use it yesterday & last night it got pretty cold...went out this morning and turned the key to a wonderful nothing...nadda...zip...zilch.

Dash lights were on & everything else seemed to work when I tried to start it; so I didn't even think about the battery. Hubby thought it was the battery though. We put it on a trickle charge and tried to start it after a bit and still nothing. So off to the dealership it goes....but it starts (on a jump) for the tow truck driver [:@] so it didn't have to be dragged on the bed. It didn't start at the dealership though so at least I didn't feel completely stupid.

Anyhow what they figure happened is because the fob was mis-setting the remote start that even though it was off it was drawing power. They were able to get the FOB to start the Jeep using any button and when they killed it they could still see a draw.

So new battery installed (they were not getting it to take a charge) & a FOB on order.

If this Jeep gets possessed by demons I'm gonna get really cranky! Thankfully I have the worlds greatest dealership with the worlds greatest service writer (sorry David but Resa ROCKS!)
