Default Should I buy this 2004??

Hello everyone. I am new to the Jeep forum but l have been a long time user of the Dodge Forum.

My girl has her eye on a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Rocky Mountain edition. Price is good and everything seems good. But I noticed that the "PART TIME" light is on while the shifter is in 2WD. When I shifted it into 4 PART TIME the light went away. I toggled back and forth several times as well as shifting it while it was in neutral and then putting it into reverse then back into drive several times. The fault remains each time. I also noticed that a few seconds after start up the car dings a couple of times and there are no other lights or indications of why its dinging other than the "PART TIME" light being on. Is this something that I should be worried about? Is this something that would break the deal? THANKS to all that read and respond!!

Hello again everyone. I did a little digging around on the internet and found a ton of postings from other Jeep owners having the exact same or very similar issues. They mention that its the switch on top of the transfer case and its about 100 bucks to fix.

Good find, and good luck. Post up some pics for us! Also, JeepForum is a great place. I spent a of time over there when I had my Jeep, and they always pointed me in the right direction.

I second that except you got some hard cores that can be down right not friendly if you are not drinking their kool aid
