Default 1982 Jeep J10 Truck

My uncle asked me to look into fixing up his J10. It has a cracked block, so a new engine is in order first. The body is really nice for an '82. I know they go for $5,000 - $6,000 freshened up.

Does anyone have any experience with these bad boys? I'm looking for parts sites mainly. He's also considering parting it out if it's profitable. What do you all think? I personally would hate to part it out.

Where the hell were youe eighteen years ago? I had an '82 J-10 Honcho, my FIRST truck and the body literally rotted out around a perfectly solid power-train, thanks mainly to the fact I grew up in the north and a "salt state".

It had the AMC 360CI V8 in it and it always ran like a champ! 15* below zero and it'd fire right up. I think I sold the thing for $2300 in like '93.

Fix it! It's a CLASSIC!

Hell, fully remanufactured 360 crate engines are only about $1500, plug and play!

Start here on the engine:

As far as parts go: All the big guys (Whitney, Summit, etc.) still sell common parts and accessories and there are a few places sell the harder to get parts too like FSJ Parts (Full Size Jeep)...

haha, 18 years ago i was 7.

The body work will be nothing. I mean it has a few very minor dings. To be honest I'm going to do it as well as possible for as cheap as possible. He's gonna pay me a % of what she sells for. The less I spend, the more I make. Floor pans are solid, all the body work is solid, the interior is so-so. Overall, it'll be fairly easy.

Now I just gotta get my brother in laws '81 camaro outta my garage. He ran out of funding.

Thanks for the info Hammer!

Just checked out that engine site. Pretty good deal I think! All new parts completely assembled w/ heads. Not too bad at all.

I do too. It's my wallet that's fighting me on it. I'm in college atm for auto body and mechanic.
