Default Transfer case help

I don't know if anybody can answer this question for me but I'm going to give it a shot I've got a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a pk5211 tranny and a 249j transfer case my tranny is bad I was wondering can I take a tranny out of a 98 $1,500 Dodge ram it's a PK 5211 and it's got a 231 d transfer case can I use that to swap into my Jeep and if the transfer case doesn't work can I just use the tranny from the pickup and bolt that to my Jeep transfer case

If both transmissions are 46RE's, then yeah, that should work just fine. Take a look at how the transfer case shifter mounts though, Dodge moved it around over the years, and not all 4x4 transmissions will have the provisions for the shifter.

bellhousing will be different in that Jeeps have the starter on the opposite side.
Whats the rest of the numbers past PK5211 on both?
