HELP MAY NEED JEEP TANNY
I DRIVE MY JEEP CHEERKEE AND LOVE IT. TODAY IT DID IT AGAIN AND I DONT KNOW IF I NEED A TRANSMISSION I HAVE A 1989 WITH 4WD 4.0 6CYL WITH OD WHEN I AM DRIVING ON FREEWAY NO PROBLEM BUT GET INTO CITY TRAFFIC WITH SOMEONE IN FRONT OF ME GOING SLOW AND IF I NOT PAYING ATTENTION AT 35MPH IT DROPS TO DOWN TO SECOND SO I GIVE IT GAS AND IT CATCHES BACK UP BUT LET OFF THE GAS IT SEEM LIKE IT IS DRAGING IS THIS NORMAL THEN WHEN I GOT OUT AFTER I PARKED IT SMELL LIKE OIL BURNING BUT I CHANGE MY OIL I CHECK THE TRANNY FUILD PINK AND AT LEVEL IT SHOULD BE SO DO I NEED A TRANNY ITS HAS OVER 200 000 MILES ON IT.

First I would drive it and duplicate the problem, then crawl under it and find out were the burned oil smell is coming from. It is possible you are simply in need of regasketing because you are spraying oil from somewhere onto the exhaust, or possibly a pinion shaft seal is starting to go away and it needs to be replaced. A relatively simple fix could save a heavy expense on a vehicle that has a lot of miles already. If something seizes up, is it really going to be worth saving it???????
