I have a 96 Jeep GC Limited 5.2. Recently it threw codes p1762 and p1763 which are the TCM codes. The dealership wants $150 to hook up the computer and test just to see if it is bad. My problem is no 1st or 2nd in Drive. I have 2nd in the 2nd gear spot and then i can shift to d for 3rd, and on. Btw how many gears does the tranny have 4? or 5? I dropped the pan replaced the filter and fluid which was also done about 23,000 miles ago. everything looked good no debree in fluid because someone said 1st is a disc pack and you might see the clutch particles. Problem is when it does go into 1st that it won't shift out, it gets stuck and i have to turn it off and when i usually recranck it it will go back to 2nd and so on. I'm sure i'm not the only one with this problem so i figured i'd give it a shoot and post on it. I have to get this done because the emissions place won't pass me because of this and i have heard lots of theories of i could be debree, or the tcm, the disc, and even the tps. Thanks
