Default 98 xj stuff into 88 xj

here the thing my 88 xj got too many miles on it. It got the 4.0 with automatic with the dana 30 front and dana 35 rear. I can get a deal on a drivetrain from an 98ish xj with 45,xxx miles. If I take everything can it be done. The 98 is smash in the front. Or can I take everything from a grand cherokee with a 318 and put into my 88?

Either could be done it depends on how much work you want to do and how much stuff you want to swap over. I don't want to lead you away but check out jeepforum.com LOTS of info there. I would stick with the 4.0 if it were me. You could swap the wireing and computer and get more hp than just swaping the old 88 stuff to the 98 motor.
