Dynasty brain box?
Hi folks, New here. hope to learn from y'all. I have a question about a '91 dynasty. 3.3v6I think.
A little back ground here. I bought this car in march of '04 for my in-laws with only 49k miles on it. it was in beautiful shape and ran perfect. in Jan. of '06 it died and after having it looked at it turned out to be the "computer". We installed a new one and everything was great again until may of '07. Did it again and it was the same thing. replaced that one and it was fine for about 2 months and did the same thing again,....geeesh! Well I'm racking up the tow bills and labor costs for installing the new boxes. Don't know how long the latest one will last and haven't driven it much for fear it will leave us hanging. My in-laws are afraid to drive it at all anymore. They really loved this car. great MPG, great ride and a super AC/heat. they are both in there 70's.
The mechanic said something about a security system? on these cars and that some have it and some don't and that has something to do with the box getting fried???.....I don't understand what he's talking about.(dummy) I was hoping some one here might have some idea as to what might be causing the "computer" to keep failing. The car now has about 65k miles now, which really isn't much at all. I think something else is amiss causing the "computer" to fail but have no earthly idea what it may be. Thanks for any help.
