Default manual trani trouble

lately it has been hard to get into 4th gear, like sticky kinda have to help it in. but now putting it into 3rd gear it grinds a little when it goes into gear as well as going into 4th. going onto 5th is just sticky. do i need a new clutch or is my trani shot? my dads friend says i may need to adjust my clutch wire. there is 167000 on it and the guy i bought the car off of believes its the original clutch. i drive this car everyday and need to fix this problem b4 it gets worse and makes big trouble.

thanks Phil

If it was the clutch cable you would have tons of pedal free play... like it would engage until almost all the way down, and it would be hard to shift in all gears, not just a few, the grinding into third could be the synchros. I would change the tranny fluid, check the old fluid and see if there is any metal specks in it,when putting new fluid in use auto tranny fluid.

Don't use tranny fluid in the a 5 speed. use 10w30 motor oil. I went threw 2 trannys real fast use atf. Changed to motor oil and still beating the crap out of the same one.
