coolant leak on '88 Aries
My 88 aries with 168k miles has a coolant leak. I replaced the waterpump yesterday and the leak is still there. Its not a "dip drip" kind of leak either,a good flow.
Looking at the motor from the right side of the car,the leak seems to be coming from behind the timing cover and dripping down the left side. The water pump side is dry. I thought maybe a freeze-out plug but the four on the left side of the block look fine. Is there one behind the timing cover?
TIA

If can wait a couple of days, your in luck the timing cover on my 87 is off so I can take look for you, until then you could try replacing the hose clamp, if that doesn't help you might have to replace the hose. Or it could be what killed my engine, the water valve might have let go, that is located on the drivers side between the head and firewall, if the nipple that the hose slides over is cracked (like mine was) the coolant could be leaking out and running along the hose and dripping where you see it, one of the hoses from thewater valveleads to that area of the block.
