Default 1988 Dodge Aires a Classic??

Wife wants to keep her 1988 Dodge Aires K series for a classic. It's a 4 door sedan. The car is all orginal and looks good and runs smooth. Is the Dodge Aires a classic? Will it be? It seems like the car will be sitting for years before it has any classic value, anyone have any thoughts on this. Thanks.
She wants to keep it stored until the "20' year mark.

Any car after 20 years is considered a classic car. I'd hang on to it. Any Chrystler is worth it in my opinion.

In CT it has to be 25 years old to be registered as a clasic.

Technically it will indeed be a classic, but it will not be of much if any value. It is the late 80's version of the late 60's to mid 70's 4 door Slant Six Dodge Dart, the Dart may be a classic or antique but even in perfect numbers matcing all original condition it isn't worth much and would still be hard to sell even for what it is worth (which is probably around it's purchase price when it was new). The only cars that are or will be of decent or good value are the popular and or rare ones, mostly high performance models and highly optioned luxuary cars. The turbocharged cars, mainly the Shelby models, will be the collector cars and the ones of value. Sorry, but that is just how it is.

age can make a car a technical "classic" however that does not translate to $ that is driven by how rare the car is. production ofn 1988 Aries A(merica) 4 door was 85,600 vs a 1971 Challenger R/T of 4,600. A technical classic, but don't look for one at Barret Jackson. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder though as I LOVE the K Car, and would love to restore/mod one out.

I don't think a K-car will ever be a clasic, just like a yugo will never be a clasic. They were great cars, just not collector items.

Classics and collectors items are two different things, the K car will be a classic regardless, that is simply based on a vehicles age. They will never be a collectors item though, except to those that cherish the unwanted, these are the ones that have the Polara 4 doors and wagons in mint condition even though they are still only worth the price paid for them back when they were new.

Depends on the type of K-car. Shelby's are increasing in value, and the sub-kcar based GLHS is hitting prices it hasnt seen since 1988.

Unless you have a rare Turbo Aries, I dont see it being worth much.

Lucky you that yours runs smooth. Just make sure you remove all the gasoline if you're gonna store it. I may be preaching to the choir here but just in case.

If it's in good shape keep it. Register it as an antique when its eligible, and then take it to the local cruise nites, car shows, whatever......you'd be suprised at how many people will say things like: "hey I used to have one of those....my brother had one of those.....best car I ever owned"....etc. Just because its not a muscle car doesn't mean it won't be a classic. If its still around I'd say that says something, don't you think?
