94' Dodge Shadow Shift cable connector?!?!?!
I bought a 94 Shaodw off my neighbor a few months ago, He wasn't driving it anymore and wanted to get rid of it, so i took it off his hands for 400$ It's a 5 spd, and i was driving it home from work a few weeks ago and somthing broke down in the center console. I called AAA and got it home, took it apart and found the metal ring that connects the cable to the shifter broke. Been to atleast 5 Salvage/U-pullit's and can't find any standard shadow's. PLEASE if you know what part im talking about or know where to get one it would be highly appriciated.
I would have to look for it, to be honest it resembles a threaded eye bolt, but it looks like it was some sort of balljoint on the end instead of threads, im not sure exactly cause that piece broke off and i could find it, it wasnt in the cable either. It's held on with a carter key at the very bottom of the shifter rod. But i think the early shadows like the 89's to 90 had a different setup im not sure. If you would happen to find a 94 Shadow with the standard, once you see the part you'll know exactly what i'm talking about.
As crazy as this sounds you might have some luck going to the dealer, I needed a couple of items for my 87 K and they were actually able to find it. Most dealers dont stock parts for models older than 10 years old, but they might have the part you need collecting dust on a shelf, thats how they found my parts, all I was charged for it was shipping, the parts dept was glad to get it off the shelf because it was taking up usable space.
I called the dealer the day it broke, and sadly to get that part you have to buy the whole cable, 156$. That's almost half the price of the car! You would think that i would just be able to find an old shadow laying around and bam, but no. It blows my mind i cannot find this part.
