New here and Considering an Omni GLH
Hey I'm Kyle. I was just browsing the net and found this site and though I should register. Ok, in my local paper there is an 86 Omni GLH for sale. Knowing the potential of these cars and such a sick HP/$ rate, I am thinking of picking this up. I just have a few questions...
1. What should I look for in the car to make sure I'm not getting ripped off?
2. What aftermarket options are available? (besides FWDPerformance)
3. How easy are these cars to tune? (I'm a Subaru and Honda guy, so American cars are new to me.)
Thats about it. Thanks a million.

One of the best places to check for performance parts is: http://www.forwardmotioninc.com
I'd say go for it if you think the price is reasonable.....
A few things to look out for are excessive rust (frame & floor), or evidence of a collision. Basically the same things you'd look for when you're in the market for a 20 y.o. car. The main weakness in the GLH's are the transaxle. The didn't get the better, stronger 5-speeds like the Daytona's and Shadows did. They are however upgradeable to the newer style transaxles with some minor mods like I did to my GLH. See here----> http://www.turbododge.com/forums/showthread.php?t=81348
Another thing to keep in mind is that they are becoming more and more scarce, and will be collectable in the future. The have already been dubbed the "original pocket rocket" by a few mag's...
If I can help you further, just let me know.....

Ok the ad says it has 91K miles on it and the picture looks like its in very good condition. He has a couple upgrades like a Mopar Comupter, clutch, a cam, a extra motor, and an ignition. He is asking $2000 for it. It seems a little high seeing how the KBB has it for like $800 tops. Any input? Thanks a bunch.

There's probably some room for neg. on the price, but if it's rust free, running, w/mods, and with only 91k on the clock, $2000 dosn't sound too bad. I would take a look at it in person and make a counter offer of what you think is reasionable, just to see if the seller is willing to neg. on the price a bit. Personally, if it's in tip-top shape I would go $2k if I wanted one bad enough. But then again I paid only $500 for my rust free GLH, drove it home, and proceeded to daily drive it for 2 1/2 years before I started to do any excessive mods too it. Maybe I was just in the right place, at the right time when I bought mine(?).
I would deffinatly look into it if your serious about getting one. Then you can make the discision if its what your looking to get into and if the price fits your buget.
They are FUN little cars and are easy to work on if you ask me. You really don't see them for sale too often. Usually the poeple that have them now (like me)are hanging on to them.
Post a picture of it if you can. I'd like to see it.

K cars are very reliable. A family member of mine had two of them, and are still running [&:]

The best thing about those cars are that you can find the parts you need to keep them going. I have a close friend that swears by them.
