HI I have an 86 Dodge 600 SE Turbo engine. when i put the car into Drive, i have very little play with the pedal. if i force it down, it will pop into neutral. I haven't done any work on it, it just happened suddenly.

It sounds like you may have two things going on, first is a sticky throttle cable, easy fix get some WD40 stick the straw inside the cable jacket and spray work the throttle till it frees up second your shifter linkage may have to be adjusted sounds like its not fully engaging into gear.
