No not really, sounds like rings are probaly going. If you lived a bit closer than WI I'd say come on over and I would help ya rebuild the bottom end. Currently I'm waiting to have the extra money so I can pick up the rings, rod bearings, etc. for my 2.5L and waiting to find a ECU for a 2.5L so I can do my motor swap...some reason my 2.5L convertible gets better gas mileage than my 2.2L does..explain that crap lol

I'd try the following - measure the compression of your engine. Finished? Now, try pouring a little bit of oil into the cylinder through where the spark plug should be (please excuse my English, I'm from Russia myself) and then try to measure the compression again, and to the same with every cylinder. Did things change? Not much? That probably means that the valves are screwed. Filled in some bad gas, perhaps? If the compression did go up - then it's the piston rings. If the compression was fine in the first place, then I would think that the problem is caused by 1. loose valve guide, but then the valve would not fit tight and that wouldn't do the compression any good, now, would it? the fact is that oil tends to leak through a loose valve guide and into the cylinder. Or 2. the crank-case ventilation system is clogged - a clean-up should fix the oil eating problem.

Are you sure the oil is burning? Have someone drive behind you for a while, try your motor at different rpm and speeds, if the people in the car behind you saw blue smoke coming out of your exhaust pipe and felt that unpleasant smell, then, well, you are burning oil. When the car is standing and you rev the engine, sometimes the exhaust gases are clear, no signs of burned oil, but under load, in motion, the car spits out clouds of smoke.

Check the engine for leaks. My 2.5 (Dodge Spirit) loses a lot of oil by leaking, I know these engines (2.2, 2.5) are famous for that. Do the belts, the gaskets or any other thing on or around your engine have signs of oil on them? Is there an oil spot underneath your car? Check that out.

Surely enough, if you follow my advice, you most probably will find the cause of oil loss in your Shadow.
