Default Guys, I really need your help on this one

Does anyone have any idea how to make a Spirit 2,5 FFV go fast? The engine is kind of strange - regular NA block, turbo head with MPI, no turbo.
Would it make sense to put turbo pistons in there, redo the intake-exhaust, CPU, wiring?
Or is it better to just buy a supercharger and install it? Or maybe install a 3.3 V6 (I know the old new-yorker got those). What can be done?
Oh, and does anybody know anything about the rear-drive conversion kit for Spirits-Daytonas? What has to be changed to het that in, and how much will this all cost? The more info the better. Thanx a lot.
Please write petr_maximov@mail.ru if you can help out, ok?

I don't think too many people know anything about making the 2.5 FFV go fast... FFV's will still run off of regular pump gas right? If so, I don't see why it would be a problem converting the engine to turbo.

Not too knowledgable on the turbo motors myself, as I own a 2.5TBI that I'm converting to V6 (only because I can't find a turbo motor worth saving....I live in Germany...) but it shouldn't be that difficult.

HEY, TURBO GUYS!! HELP ME OUT HERE!!!!

Even if you don't know the answer to the whole question, you can at least contribute what you DO know.

Uh, there is ALOT different with the FFV engines so you may run into alot of wierd problems you'd never suspect.

Donovan, the 2.x genius gave up flat out trying to keep a stock 2.x FFV engine running so you may be best surve to just throw a turbo 2.x engine in there or a v6 (and there are a few to chose from there).

You could keep the plastic fuel tank, chrome fuel rail, but I'd lose the rest and just throw a easier engine on there, since its
1) Reallllly hard to get parts, even as simple as the fuel filter, for FFV
2) Almost no one, even at the dealer, knows how to work on these 2.x ffv cars (ffv 3.3 on the other hand is a diff story because it is slightly more common).

The nice thing about FFV is the fuel system comes OEM ready to run alcohol...

But yeah, even the pistons are diff if I remeber right.

yeah find a cheap turbo car and pull engine transmission wiring axle shafts and fuel pump out of a 1990 caravan with the 3.0 it has good fuel delivery and good pressure and will fit in daytonas omnis chargers and many other chryslers. swap and there you go but the wiring from a daytona/laser is intergrated with the lighting and interior wiring hassle with figuring out what wires you need and what you don't i'd recommend looking for a duster turbo/or a dodge 600 or even a new yorker!

ther is a lot of differances between a turbo and non-turbo compression is lower for one, tube in the back of the engine for oil drain from the turbo head the head has a ts stamped on the back of it which the head is designed to eliminate knock.transmisions on a non-turbo only have three clutches in them turbo's have four and turbo trns are a little beefier inside.don't use a non-turbo tranny on a turbo it will crack when horse power is above 135.clutches for manual trannys are one inch bigger diam.Bigger flywheel and some turbo cars have equal-lateral axle shafts this is to compensate for torque steer when boosting at the take off auto trannys you can boost off the line and lose very little boost when shifting but a turbo auto is only good for 190 horses or they will crack right next to housing around the spider gear if 190 horse or more USE MANUAL TRANNY if you can find a getrag tranny cheap they are the best my brothers rampage has one he's boosting 18.5 lbs boost and hitting 275 horses @12.89 in the quarter mile you ought to see the collection of busted auto trannys, and axle shafts that look like a cork screw. He now took my advise and whent to a manual transmission cams are differant too much easy to diy and find a wrecked or one that has a bad head gasket and fix the gasket swap everything in and be done.Hope this input can help you if you want to go turbo!I love my turbo laser xt and it is a lot of fun to see a camaro disappear in my rear-view mirror then at the end of the race ask "hey that thing have a turbo in it?"
