Default WELCOME......to ME!

alright, i just picked up a 89 shadow 2.2 5spd as a DD and I need some help...

when i try to shift into R, 1,2,5 it just wont go....i was told by the seller that sometimes it 'freezes' up when it gets cold outside...15* now
we put it in the garage and he got it to work while i was talking to his wife...didn't watch [:@] any ideas on how i can fix this problem?? once it was 'unfroze', i drove it home fine with absolutly no problems, parked at home, left 30 min later, parked and let it sit for like 4 hrs...then drove home with no problems...so only under a very long time of sitting like over 12hrs....IDEAS???

Check tranny oil level. Or just to be safe drain tranny and refill with recommended tranny oil probably 90wt but check to make sure. How many miles on the car? Could need new synchros.

Sounds like the synchros to me, too. But that transmission shouldn't be very hard to find in a junkyard.

Well since he said it shifted fine after the tranny warmed up, that's why I was thinking it could be the gear oil. Either too low or wrong grade.
