Default Project Shadow: From the Ashes [56K Beware!!]

Well, here she is... My '92 ES 3.0

At the junkyard, where I found her. Had just been turned in due to minor (stupid actually) problems.

Being brought home on the rollback

Finally got the car home, and here's what I found...

Yuck!

The spare tire compartment... [:'(] Surprisingly this is the only rust on the whole car. Not surprising, however, is the severity of it... (you can punch a screwdriver through it!)

Overall, with the exception of the funk, the interior is in pretty decent shape...

Here's the primary reason that the person junked the car.... apparently he had either lost or broken his only key, so rather than installing a new ignition and locks, he simply did violence to the starter switch. (and in the process destroyed the steering column)

Here it is... The whole reason why I bought this car: I always wanted a V6 Shadow! I've loved them ever since I was a kid.

The first meeting with my Calibra, hopefully the Shadow speaks German. (She should, Chrysler does enough work with Mercedes...LOL.)

Default Update! 17 Dec 05

Finally finished changing all the fluids, refilling the transmission, etc. Getting ready to fire her up and let her run up to temp for the first time.

I took a big risk buying this car, and hopefully it was worth it. I couldn't even start her before I bought her. All the fluids had been drained prior to going out on the strip yard. (U-pull-it junkyard)

She has a few parts missing from her, but nothing serious. Sofar I found that the entire left-front brake system, disc and all, had been removed, and the windshield wiper arms too. (not too bad) I have a parts car, so this isn't a big deal. (my first shadow, poor baby)

Also has a small crack in the windshield, too big to be repaired, but hopefully they won't give me a hard time when I go through inspection.

While I was working on repairing the fuel tank, the muffler snapped off at the pipe and cracked me pretty good in the head, no blood, but I had a bit of a headache for a while. [:@] lol

More as I progress....

I see its the 5 speed. Mines an automatic. Thought I read somewhere (maybe allpar.com) that the 5 speeds used on the V6 weren't too strong. Was thinking of converting to 5 spd until I read that. Like the grey interior. Looks way better than my beige interior. But my car is green so not sure if it would look good with the grey.

Beige looks good on a green shadow. My friend back stateside used to have a Duster that was green/beige.

I think the grey interior would look ok on a green one though....dunno. I don't think you can get a green one with grey.

No you can't get one that's already green and grey. But could convert it. Guess I'll stick to Beige. But am considering changing out the seats. Atleast the front seats with some corbeau's. That's why I was considering a interior color change. Beige Corbeau's might look a bit odd.

Default Update #2 17 Dec 05

Got her up to temperature, took a while though.

Tested the heater, the blower doesn't seem to want to work. Not sure if it's the blower itself or just the switch. Going to check later.

Anybody got a spare heater switch console or blower? lol PM me with a price.

Shadow being small and light wieght....

YOU HAVE TO DO WHAT HARV DID! :P
http://harvii.tripod.com/

Harv's supercharged 3.0 lebaron gets 14s, i bet this thing would get 13s without much work at all.

Just a thought. I mean hey, it would be cool

Looks great, but I don't think it would be a good idea to put a blower on a 140,000 mile engine.....
